Via instapundit: Top 5 Little Web Apps You Might Not Be Using (But Should) I like this one:
Todoist.com–Developed by a “computer science student [with] 2 part-time jobs”, Todoist is a web application that basically functions as a personal assistant, or like a cloud of Post-It notes that follows you everywhere. Create a hierarchical calendar with your to-do items, and Todoist will contact you with recurring reminders via email or SMS, or through its integration with iGoogle, Quicksilver, Netvibes, and more.

Instructables.com bills itself as “The Worlds Biggest Show and Tell”. Not sure about that, but it is pretty cool. DIY projects, recipes, and much more.

The paperless home:
Some homes may no longer have phone books, but many have scanners — and, increasingly, more than one. Flatbed scanners, which most people use for photographs, offer high resolution but are cumbersome for scanning large volumes of paper. New, cheap document-feed scanners that can digitize a stack of papers, receipts or business cards in seconds are becoming popular. Add multiple computers, digital cameras and maybe an electronic book reader, and suddenly paper seems to be on the endangered-species list.

A cool new hyper-local video website has launched this week called KnoxTube.
It’s a free video upload/sharing site with a local focus and flavor. There’s even a KnoxViews channel in case any of y’all are interested in doing some video blogging.
Looks cool, check it out…
Fall in the Smokies, how can you not love it! A great time to check out these Smoky Mountain National Park weather cams: Look Rock and Purchase Knob. Other National Park Service weather cams are viewable here.

Scene snapped from the Purchase Knob cam at 2:45PM today.
Urban Dictionary – hilarious (and practical) 100% user-maintained dictionary where users provide and vote on definitions for urban words (slangs). This one applies to me:
Man Stand October 3
The act of a man standing outside a shop while his wife/girlfriend/partner shops inside. Man Standing involves looking into space, at other women, or in the case of multi story shopping centers, leaning on the railings of an upper floor watching the people below.

Craigslist, the free online classified site seems to be finally catching on here in Knoxville. If you have anything to sell or are looking to pick something up on the cheap, this is the place to do it. Lifehacker, just published this informative guide to selling on Craigslist. This compliments their earlier Power users guide to buying on Craigslist.
As with most everything on the web, it is buyer beware on Craigslist. There are tons of scams out there hidden among the good deals. Of course the best rule of thumb here is: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
